Rock and Roll Hall of Fame??

Perhaps it's time to rename the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to something new... Something that covers all formats of music, maybe. I mean, I understand that back in the day a lot of what we would call Pop music today was considered Rock and Roll... but when I see the list of nominees for the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of fame, or more importantly... the list of those LEFT OUT of the nominations, I ask myself who nominates these artists?!

Okay... lets start with the nominees that I am having a problem with for this next induction. Madonna, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer and Hip Hop DJ Afrika Bambaata. Now, they may have all contributed to music in different ways. I mean Madonna has sold jillions of albums. But when I look at the list of who was left out of the nominee list, it makes my mind boggle! Left off were... Metallica, who became eligible this year since its been 25 years since Kill Em All released. These guys helped pioneer speed metal as we know it. How about Rush?! They have to have contributed at least as much as Mellencamp and Donna Summer! Or the one that REALLY confuses me is KISS. I mean, granted, I am not a big KISS fan, but come on!!! They belong in the Hall of Fame if ANY of the nominees from this year do. Also left off the list of nominees were Iggy and the Stooges, Genesis, Yes and the Electric Light Orchestra. All of the aforementioned artists belong there before MELLENCAMP!

Who nominates the artists? By chance are they the same people that gave Jethro Tull the first Grammy for Best HEAVY METAL artist?! Coincidentally, Jethro Tull was also left off of this years list of nominees...
