Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm in Florida’s Big Bend but caused devastation reaching into Appalachia. At this point, over 100 people lost their lives across six states and over 2 million homes and businesses are without power.  Flash flooding and landslides in western North Carolina have taken out roads and bridges, leaving so many isolated.

FOX meteorologist Bob Van Dillen heard the screams of a woman who drove into a flooded road and couldn’t get out. He ended up cutting his live shot early to go get her out of the car and wade her back to safety.

Relief teams from 20 states are bringing supplies and trying to reach those trapped.

The Red Cross is taking donations for the relief effort.  Visit redcross.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) to make a financial donation. People can also text the word HELENE to 90999 to make a donation.
