Try Not To Cry Watching This Military Mom Surprise Her Daughter For Homecoming

For 17-year-old Harmonee, her mom, Alissa, has served in the United States Army her whole life. She was born while her mom was stationed in Japan, and it’s been tough being a military kid. Things got even tougher after Alissa separated from her dad and he was awarded full custody because she decided to stay in the Army.

As Harmonee puts it, “there’s a different emotional connection you have with your mom than you do with your dad…” So Alissa took a hardship job for more stability at home and fought for the next two years for custody of Harmonee. She can still be called away for duty, and that happened for a four-month stint in the Middle East. So when she returned, she wanted to surprise her cheerleader daughter in a big way.

Alissa dressed up at the school mascot and did “mascot things” on the sidelines while her daughter cheered until it was the right time to reveal her identity!
