ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – The Latest on a fatal shooting near a sports complex in Anchorage (all times local):

5:05 p.m.

Police say an 18-year-old was killed and a teenage boy seriously wounded in a shooting during an altercation Sunday near popular athletic fields in Anchorage.

Police spokesman MJ Thim says a one boy pulled a gun during a fight. He shot and killed an 18-year-old man and left another with life-threatening injuries before taking off.

Police continue to look for the shooter, but don’t believe the general public is in danger.

Police have spoken to the wounded teen and gotten some details.

Thim says the baseball field and basketball courts near Sullivan Arena were crowded and people may have heard or seen something. Police ask anyone with information to call them with any information.

3:11 p.m.

Anchorage police say the person killed Sunday near a trail in the heart of the city was an 18-year-old man, not a juvenile as initially reported.

The victim’s name has not been released.

Police just before 6:30 p.m. received a report of shots fired along Chester Creek Trail near Sullivan Arena. The area is north of baseball fields.

Police dispatchers a few minutes later took a call from someone saying he had been shot.

Patrol officers found the dead teen and a critically wounded juvenile in woods police describe as far off the trail system.

Police on Monday afternoon said the shooting followed an altercation among a group of juveniles that started in the sports fields.

The shooter fled. Police say detectives are working to find the suspect.
